Hello, I’m Stephen
All too often, I hear and see things about me that are way off target, things that I read and can’t help but to say “where did you ever hear that?” So here’s me, 22 years, 9 months and 1 day old.
- My name is Stephen James Gomez.
- I’m really not that cool.
- I was born in Scottsdale, Arizona.
- I play bass in a band called The Summer Set.
- I dropped out of college in 2008 and hopped in a van to see the country with my best friends and little brother.
- I listen to a very wide array of music, but generally myself either putting on the local country radio station, listening to mellow singer/songwriter stuff, or having my face blown off by loud rock n’ roll.
- I love Mexican food, I eat it more often than any human being should.
- I enjoy me some “adult beverages,” but I’ll never drink vodka or rum.
- Conor Oberst, Ryan Adams, Ben Gibbard, Jim Adkins. These are the men I admire most when it comes to music.
- I’ve loved some girls in my time, I’ve lost ‘em all.
- I’m not a vegetarian or vegan. I was for two years, but stopped spring of 2010. My conscience hates that I eat animals, my tongue loves it.
- I look at maps a lot.
- I want to visit every continent in the world.
- I like baseball.
- I don’t like attention. Being gawked at and having my name yelled are two of my least favorite things in the world.
- I’m not very fashion savvy, I never know what to wear, I generally just wear a t-shirt and jeans. Most of my clothes are either black, white, or grey, this is because I don’t know how to match. It’s sad, but true.
- I don’t believe in God.
- Romantic comedies. Those are my favorite movies. No shame.
- I don’t like to read, but I like to write. Go figure.
- I try my best to keep up with the current political landscape. I will never vote Republican.
- I used to have a huge fear of flying, I got over that this year.
- If I could time travel back to High School, I would be fucking awesome.
- I don’t have a lot of friends, just a few very close ones. That’s all I need.
- I will never understand women. I don’t think anyone ever will.
- I like to draw.
- Being in the studio is my favorite thing about being in a band.
- I love burgers and fries. It’s bad, but I can’t help myself.
- I’m a normal human being, I have good days, I have bad days. The good definitely outweigh the bad.
- I believe everyone is a good person at heart.
- The thought of death scares me to death.
- Vinyl records sound better, I don’t know why.
- I have a hard time taking compliments from people I don’t know.
- I believe in aliens.
- I currently have no plans of ever moving out of Arizona.
- I believe in progression, as a musician, as a human race, as an individual.
- I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. My favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream. Yeah, I’m boring.
- Grabbing an acoustic guitar, having some beers, and singing songs with my friends is one of my favorite things in the world.
- In my free time, I study the planets from Star Wars. Nerdy shit.
- I like looking out the window when we’re driving from city to city. The American landscape never ceases to amaze me.
This is me. Well, for the most part.
